Member Profile – Norman Day
Norman Day, pictured on the right with fellow QUACster Raul Peragallo, is a true ‘QUAC original’. He’s been swimming with QUAC since our first days. His dedication to swimming, pool etiquette, camaraderie, wit and sense of humor make him a true inspiration and a pleasure to swim with.
He really is quite funny… Ask him “how’s life?” and he’ll reply “it’s shitty”, but judging from the grin on his face you’ll believe just the opposite. Ask his friends what’s most important to him and they’ll say, “Swimming. It’s his number one addiction”. Although we wouldn’t call it an addiction, even so six days a week you’ll see him in the pool with either QUAC or the Steiner’s Long Course Masters team. When asked if he would be interested in a possible QUAC Saturday practice, he replied, “well, it’s my only day off from swimming, but sure, why not!”
He’s not afraid of hard workouts, especially when they involve IM or butterfly, even though – as he likes to point out – he usually is the oldest one in the lane…When he’s not swimming Norm is a successful and very busy interior designer. He runs his own design empire, Design LTD, in Salt Lake City. Ask him about it and he’ll mention his secretary Carol; “really,” he’ll say, “it’s Carol’s world and I’m just in it”. He’s incredibly fashionable, we’re told he has more pairs of eyeglasses than Elton John, and so much silver jewelry he’d sink if he didn’t take it off before swimming. We should note that he doesn’t keep the jewelry in his locker any longer since “the incident” at Steiner a while ago. Finally, his friends wanted me to mention that he’s “also a slut,” which I thought was mean, but they swear he’ll laugh.
Hope you’re laughing; and keep inspiring us Norm, we all love you!!!!
