Athletic/Aquatics Organizations:
Utah Masters Swimming has handled much of the organizational work in getting pools, and swimming events in place throughout the state.
USMS is a national membership-operated nonprofit organization that provides membership benefits to nearly 60,000 Masters swimmers across the country.
IGLA is the world’s foremost international organization solely devoted to developing and promoting gay and lesbian swimming, water polo, diving, and synchronized swimming. Our mission is to promote participation in aquatic sports among lesbians and gay men and friends of our community, and to ensure maintenance of the highest standards for aquatic competitions and international standards for all Gay Games and IGLA Championships.
Federation of Gay Games - We are athletes, artists and activists, united to support the “Games that Change the World” The Federation of Gay Games ensures that the Gay Games, the largest sports and culture festival in the world open to all, take place every four years under the founding principles of Participation, Inclusion, and Personal Best™.
SQUID - (Denver)SQUID Swim Team was founded in 1992 by a group of athletes preparing for the 1994 Gay Games. More than 80 members now participate in our swimming program.
DCAC - (DC)DCAC is a high-energy swim team and social club whose mission is to promote competitive and fitness swimming for lesbians, gays and their friends in a team-oriented, coached setting. Whether you are looking to make friends, get in a great workout, or compete against great swimmers from throughout the region, the nation or the world, DCAC is the team for you! Community Organizations:
Equality Utah, an IRS 501 c 4 organization, is the state’s largest LGBT civil rights organization. Equality Utah leads efforts for LGBT civil rights at the state and local levels through a range of strategies including lobbying legislators and other elected and appointed officials; sponsoring bills and opposing negative legislation; building coalitions; and empowering individuals and other organizations to engage in the legislative process.
Utah Pride is a catalyst for building and celebrating the strength, equality, dignity and self-determination of the LGBTQ community throughout Utah. We are committed to excellence in execution and the continuing improvement of all programs, services, education and advocacy. Utah AIDS Foundation - At the Utah AIDS Foundation we offer assistance and expertise to anyone struggling with the complex issues that surround HIV, because we believe that no one should have to confront this disease alone. As we work side by side with community members, for as long as we are needed, we are committed to forming partnerships that mend health, promote compassion and extend companionship to everyone who has been affected by HIV.
